The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is based on the local community. It's intended to spread the advantages of economic immigration to smaller communities by giving skilled foreign employees who want to live and work in one of the participating communities a route to permanent residence.

Sudbury, ON
Timmins, ON
Sault Ste. Marie, ON
Thunder Bay, ON
Brandon, MB
Altona/Rhineland, MB
Moose Jaw, SK
Claresholm, AB
Vernon, BC
West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), BC
To be eligible for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), you must
- have qualifying work experience or have graduated from a publicly funded post-secondary institution in the community-You need 1 year of work experience (at least 1,560 hours) in the past 3 years.
- meet the language requirements-
The minimum language requirements for each NOC category are;
TEER 0 and 1: CLB/NCLC 6
TEER 2 and 3: CLB/NCLC 5
TEER 4 and 5: CLB/NCLC 4
- meet the educational requirements-minimum high school diploma
- prove you have enough money to support your transition into the community
- intend to live in the community
- meet community-specific requirements
- have temporary resident status (if you’re in Canada when you apply)
If you meet all of the requirements, you can start to look for an eligible job in the community. Job offer doesn’t require LMIA.
